Shepherd’s International College, Akwanga (SICA), is a Christian co-educational secondary school, committed to providing wholistic quality education that meets international standards in a Christian school atmosphere, under the guidance of mature and experienced Christian teachers and mentors. The college is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission Abuja for the purpose of pursuing the objectives set out in its Articles and Memorandum of Association, and the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education, for the purpose of compliance with National and State statutes and regulations. However, it is primarily a Christian ministry devoted to achieving the philosophy, vision, mission and objectives of developing the physical, mental, moral and spiritual lives of younger people of secondary school age. Taking its que from the Lord Jesus, described as the Chief Shepherd in 1 Peter 5:2 – 4 from where it derives its name. As such, all staff and officers of the college are to operate in the understanding and guidance of this philosophy.
SICA is a non-denominational ministry as it does not belong to any Church or denomination. The proprietors labour in diverse callings of Christian ministry, such as missions, youths, school ministries and associated ministries in their respective areas of services in the Kingdom severally, and do jointly subscribe to the view that this college is a ministry uniquely set out to achieve the stated objectives. The school started at its temporary site on September 9, 2002, with 15 students. It was registered on February 14, 2003, with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria, with Registration number RC 472106, and granted formal approval to operate as a school by the Nasarawa State government in February 2003.
